I've lost alot of friends over the years but this one hurts the most by far. I am devastated by the news of Eddy's passing and I am so sad. The guy is a living breathing example of when not to lower your expectations, for he may very well surpass them from his previous track record. I despise the way WWE works sometimes, but Eddie bounced back from the pressure of main eventing in 2004, and came right back, he will always be remembered as someone who cheated death, and stole not only life, but also the notion of underestimation. F*ck you Cena, f*ck you bookers, instead of slapping the belts on three move wonders, why not take advantage of something and someone who deserves it before its' too late? I always criticised his feud with Rey Mysterio (primarily because I despise Mysterio), but in all fairness, that feud reinvigorated much of SMACKDOWN for me, and I now prefer it over RAW, now nothing more than a dumping ground for the Mcmahons and jobber fodder for the prick holding the championship presently. He set the standard for main eventers of his kind, and he could never truly stay heel for long, when he was heel, he made you beleive it. After beating his demons, winning the biggest symbol of drug addiction defiance (the WWE Championship), Eddie dies the way noone wanted him to back when he had his problems, alone in a hotel room.Įddie was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, one of the true innvoators, and the first hispanic wrestler to become world champion in an american promotion. All storylines were put on hold, and no WWE employees were forced to perform, although several matches took place, including one featuring Chavo, who finished the match with his uncle's finishing maneuver the frog splash. The episodes of Raw on November 14, 2005, and SmackDown! on Novem(both filmed November 13, 2005), each aired as tributes to Guerrero. Eddie Guerrero was pronounced dead upon the ambulance arriving at the scene. In a 2020 interview for the documentary Dark Side of the Ring, Chavo explained that Eddie had passed out in the hotel room bathroom with a toothbrush in his hand, and was barely clinging to life when Chavo discovered him. On November 13, 2005, Guerrero was found unconscious in his hotel room at the Marriott Hotel City Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by his nephew, Chavo. Guerrero was close friends with fellow wrestlers Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, JBL, and Batista. During this relationship, Tara gave birth to Guerrero's third daughter, Kaylie Marie Guerrero. During a two-year separation from Vickie, he had a relationship with a woman named Tara Mahoney.
